The Book of Jacob....it just became my favorite book in the whole Book of Mormon

So who knew that this book would literally become full of notes and highlighted text all in a matter of an hour and there is still more to go!
As I was reading this book I got a real sense of what our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson thinks about as he prepares to speak to all the church. (Perfect thing to study with General Conference coming up in about 2 weeks!) So one thing that I wanted to point out is in Chapter 4, verses 4-5:
For, for this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us.
Behold, they believed in Christ and worship the Father in his name, and also we worship the Father in his name. And for this intent we keep the law of Moses, it pointing our souls to him; and for this cause it is sanctified unto us for righteousness, even as it was accounted unto Abraham in the wilderness to be obedient unto the commands of God in offering up his son Isaac, which is a similitude of God and his Only Begotten Son.
Can I just say that I fell in love with that? These whole scriptures are written so that way people know that we have a belief in Christ. So that those who are reading know that these prophets testified of Christ long before he was to come. The other cool thing? They understood the law of Moses. All these sacrifices that they were doing were to point them towards Christ. It is a commandment that we always remember Christ (see Mosiah 18:9) and this was the way for them to do it. By sacrificing they were remember what Christ would do for them many years later. How cool? They understood and they didn't even have that witness that he had come yet? They believed in a man who would eventually come down, they had no proof only belief. I am so grateful for the scriptures! They have such great examples of people with faith, because without faith we can do nothing. Faith leads to action.

Come listen to a living prophet
Just a reminder for everyone! This is the best thing ever!!
